44 JENNER STREET

Windhoek West, Windhoek

The refurbishment and redevelopment of an old 1960/70 dwelling, which was in an advanced state of dilapidation, entailed extensive interior and exterior refurbishment and redevelopment.

Conceptually, the exterior shell was retained and opened up, while the interior was wholly gutted and extensively renovated, in order to exploit external views, while ensuring a series of free-flowing open plan, interconnected spaces for the living areas. This in turn seamlessly connects to the outdoors entertainment-, pool -, and gardens areas.

A new wrap-around verandah was added to the front of the dwelling and integrated with folding aluminum screens to protect against the harsh western sun. This verandah opens up into an outdoor entertainment area towards the south while the screens closes off this space from the street and provide for much needed privacy in this area.
